Around 200 volunteers, along with the Principal and faculty members, actively participated in the event. The President and Vice President of Sadras Panchayat graced the occasion as Chief Guests and appreciated the efforts of the students. The volunteers cleaned the beach premises and distributed awareness pamphlets to the public, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and plastic-free environment. HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis Awareness Programme

Nirmala, ICTC Counsellor. Tamilnadu AIDS Control Society.Sadras. Objective: To create awareness among students about HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis, their causes, prevention methods, and the importance of early diagnosis and healthy living. Outcome: Students gained valuable knowledge about the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and TB. The session helped reduce stigma and encouraged healthy practices and social responsibility among youth. Short Report: The NSS unit of our college organized an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis at Sadras on 09.10.2025. Mrs. S. Nirmala, ICTC Counsellor, served as the resource person and delivered an informative session on disease prevention and awareness. Around 200 students participated enthusiastically. The event successfully promoted health awareness and social responsibility among students.

To encourage students to take a firm stand against drug usage by participating in an awareness pledge. To promote creativity and critical thinking through competitions (e.g., essay writing, poster making, or speech) focused on anti-drug themes. To inspire peer-led advocacy and create a drug-free campus culture. Expected Outcomes: Increased awareness among students about the dangers of drug addiction. Enhanced student participation in social and community welfare activities. Empowered youth ambassadors who advocate for a drug-free lifestyle. Improved campus environment through student-led anti-drug initiatives. Stronger collaboration between departments and NSS units in promoting social responsibilities.
An Awareness Campaign to Educate and Prevent Drug Addiction and Sexual Harassment
Date: 12.09.2025 Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Venue: College Auditorium Organized by: NSS, WEC, and Department of Tamil Nadu Police Participants: 150+ Students Objectives of the Programme: * To raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the legal and social consequences of addiction. * To educate students about the importance of personal safety, consent, and respectful behaviour to prevent sexual harassment. * To empower students with knowledge about the laws, support systems, and reporting mechanisms available in cases of drug-related issues or harassment. * To promote a healthy, safe, and inclusive campus environment through active student participation and discussion. * To collaborate with law enforcement (Tamil Nadu Police) and institutional bodies (NSS & WEC) in building preventive strategies through community engagement. Expected Outcomes of the Programme: * Students will gain a better understanding of the physical, emotional, and legal consequences of drug addiction and sexual harassment. * Increased awareness and sensitivity among students regarding respectful interpersonal conduct. * Students will become familiar with available resources and helplines for seeking help or reporting incidents. * Encouragement of peer support and positive behavioural change within the student community. * Strengthened partnership between educational institutions and law enforcement for student welfare and safety.
Women Rising: A Valedictory ceremony for 30+ women entrepreneurs
On 8th March 2025, a valedictory ceremony for special skill development programme was successfully conducted from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the College Auditorium, organized jointly by WEC (Women Empowerment Cell) and MIND Trust. Over 30 women students actively participated in and completed a free certificate course in Aari Work – a traditional hand embroidery technique. The course was conducted under the guidance and support of MIND Trust, and certificates of course completion and the MSME (Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Government of India were issued. This initiative aimed to: 1. Empower women students with self-employment and income-generating skills. 2. Promote traditional Indian handcrafts through professional training. 3. Enhance entrepreneurial opportunities for young women in the field of fashion and textile design. The programme received an enthusiastic response, and the participants expressed interest in further skill-based initiatives. The event marked a significant step towards women’s empowerment through vocational education.

Objectives of the Programme: Inauguration of Women’s Empowerment Cell & MINDS Trust – Enhancing Employability through Skill Training We are proud to announce the inauguration of the Women’s Empowerment Cell and the launch of MINDS Trust, a dedicated initiative aimed at enhancing employability through skill training. Women’s Empowerment Cell will work towards creating a platform for women to access educational resources, training, and mentorship. It aims to break down barriers and create a more inclusive environment for women to thrive, both personally and professionally. On the other hand, MINDS Trust seeks to address the growing need for skill-based training, particularly in marginalized communities. Through industry-driven training programs, we aim to equip individuals with the tools they need to enhance their employability, whether by entering the job market or starting their own ventures.
