Fresher’s Welcome – Blessing Ceremony Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College celebrated its Fresher’s Welcome – Blessing Ceremony on 30th June 2025 at the college auditorium. The event was presided over by our Chairman, Secretary, and Principal, who extended their blessings and best wishes to the newly admitted students. The Chief Guest of the day, Mr. Vijay Kamalakannan, Director of the acclaimed film Oh Kanmaniye, inspired the gathering with an engaging and motivational speech, encouraging students to dream big and pursue their goals with dedication. The Guest of Honour, Mr. D. Nanthakumar, an eminent industrialist from Anupuram, shared valuable insights from his professional journey, motivating students to explore opportunities with confidence and determination. The ceremony created a warm and encouraging atmosphere for the freshers, marking the beginning of their academic journey at GSS Jain College.

Annual Day and Sports Day Celebration The Annual Day and Sports Day of our college were celebrated with great enthusiasm on 19th April 2025. The event was graced by Mr. V. Arumugam M.A., B.L, District and Session Judge, Chengalpet, who attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. K.O.U. Thiyagarajan, B.Sc., MB.B.S., FICP., HoD of the Accident Emergency Department at Chettinad Institute of Medical Science, Manamai, was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. Both distinguished guests addressed the students, offering inspiring words of wisdom and encouragement. The event also saw the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions, recognizing the hard work and achievements of students in both academic and sports domains. The celebrations concluded on a high note, leaving everyone motivated for future endeavors.

Women Day Celebration The Women’s Day celebration at our college was held on 8th March 2025 with great enthusiasm and pride. The event aimed to honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women, and to inspire students towards empowerment and self-realization. The Chief Guest for the event was Annai Yasodha Thirumoolar Sathya Avargal, who shared her profound thoughts, especially with the girl students. Her insightful speech focused on the “Thirumanthiram” and the concept of the soul, leaving the audience deeply inspired and spiritually enriched. As part of the celebration, the Tamil Department organized a spirited Tamil debate on the thought-provoking topic:“Sodhanaigalai Sadhagalaga Maatruvathu Pengalae! Aangalae!”(Who better transforms challenges into achievements – Women or Men?) The debate showcased the oratory skills and critical thinking of the participants, and the judgement was delivered by Annai Yasodha Thirumoolar Sathya Avargal, who appreciated the efforts of all students and encouraged them to continue voicing their thoughts with courage and clarity. The celebration was a meaningful tribute to the spirit of womanhood and served as a platform for thoughtful discussion and empowerment.

Women Rising: A Valedictory Ceremony for 30+ Women Entrepreneurs The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), led by Dr. M. Chitra Manogari, organized a free Aari Work training program for more than 30 women students of our college. This initiative was part of InsPIRE: Enhancing Employability Through Skill Training by Aspire For Her, supported by the Infosys Foundation. The training, conducted by Mrs. Shobana, provided students with valuable skills in Aari work, a traditional and intricate embroidery technique, empowering them with a unique skill set for future career opportunities. On 8th March 2025, a Valedictory Ceremony was held to honor the successful completion of the training program. The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Antony Jerald Anand, Founder of Minds Trust and the Women Entrepreneur Consortium; Mr. Parameshwaran, Mentor; Mrs. Faridha Ilangovan, WEC President; Mrs. Priya Rajarathinam, WEC Treasurer; and Mrs. S. Dhanapriya, WEC Secretary. During the ceremony, students were presented with Course Completion Certificates and MSME Certificates, recognizing their achievements and newfound skills. Dr. Antony Jerald Anand also assured the students that Minds Trust would provide continued support, helping them secure loans or job opportunities to further their careers. This initiative is a testament to the college’s commitment to empowering women and enhancing their employability through skill development, offering them tools to become independent and successful in their chosen fields.

Pongal Celebration
Pongal Celebration Our college celebrated the vibrant festival of Pongal with much enthusiasm and joy. The event was filled with a series of fun and engaging competitions, including Rangoli, Making Pongal, Pot Breaking (Uri Adi), and several fun games that brought out the festive spirit in everyone. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. N. Sowmya Narayani, a retired Music Teacher from AEES School, Kalpakkam, and an Entrepreneur at Fresh Millers, Anupuram. In her speech, Ms. Sowmya Narayani shared her insights on the significance of Pongal as a celebration of harvest, unity, and tradition. Students participated enthusiastically in the various events, with the Rangoli competition showcasing beautiful designs, while the Making Pongal event saw students preparing the traditional dish with great enthusiasm. The Uri Adi (Pot Breaking) event added a dose of fun and excitement, with participants aiming to break the clay pot blindfolded, a tradition that brought out laughter and cheer among the crowd. The celebration ended on a high note, fostering a sense of community and joy as students bonded over games and festivities. The event was a perfect way to honor the cultural significance of Pongal while embracing the spirit of fun and togetherness.

Interschool Volleyball Competition 📍 Venue: College Premises📅 Date: January 25, 2025 On January 25, 2025, department of physical education hosted the much-awaited Interschool Volleyball Competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from various schools in the region. The event took place at our college premises, where talented students showcased their sportsmanship and skills in an exciting volleyball tournament. The competition was organized to promote teamwork, physical fitness, and healthy competition among school students. The event was a great success, with teams from multiple schools coming together to compete for the coveted prizes. The students gave their best performances, displaying excellent teamwork and sportsmanship. The matches were filled with thrilling moments, and the spectators cheered for their respective teams with great enthusiasm. The competition concluded with the award ceremony, where the winners and runners-up were recognized and awarded with trophies and certificates. Special recognition was given to the players who displayed exceptional skills throughout the tournament. We would like to thank all the participating schools, coaches, and volunteers for making the event a grand success. The college looks forward to hosting more such events to encourage sports and youth development.
