Celebrating Togetherness, Tradition and Joy
Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain Arts and Science College (Co-Ed), Nallur, a unit of Mahaveer Jain Kalyan Sangh, celebrated Onam 2026 with great enthusiasm and festive spirit on Monday, 24 August 2026 at the college campus.
The celebration brought together students and staff in a vibrant atmosphere filled with culture, tradition, creativity and joy. The event provided an opportunity for students to celebrate the rich cultural heritage associated with Onam while promoting unity, friendship and togetherness within the college community.
Highlights of the Celebration
The celebration featured a variety of cultural programmes and engaging activities, including:
- 🌸 Pookalam Competition – Students enthusiastically participated in creating colourful and artistic traditional floral decorations.
- 💃 Classical Dance Performances – Students presented graceful classical dance performances showcasing India’s rich cultural traditions.
- 🎶 Dance Performances – Talented students entertained the gathering with vibrant and energetic dance performances.
- 🌺 Onam Group Dance – Students came together to present lively group performances reflecting the festive spirit of Onam.
- 🏆 Fun Games for Students – Various entertaining games and activities encouraged active participation, teamwork and camaraderie among students.
- 🎁 Prize Distribution – Winners and participants of the competitions and activities were appreciated and recognised with exciting prizes.
Traditional Attire
Adding colour and authenticity to the celebration, students participated in the event wearing traditional attire. Boys dressed in Dhoti (Mundu) with traditional shirts or Kurtas, while girls adorned Onam Sarees, Kerala Sarees and other traditional outfits.
The traditional dress code added to the festive ambience and beautifully reflected the cultural significance of the occasion.
A Memorable Celebration
The Onam Celebration 2026 was a joyful and memorable occasion that brought the entire college community together. Through cultural performances, competitions, traditional attire and fun-filled activities, the celebration successfully conveyed the message of togetherness, harmony and cultural appreciation.
